When At Night I Go To Sleep, lullabies for children and adults

When we think of lullabies, most of us think of lilting, simple songs, usually sung to lull a child to sleep. But as I began compiling this album, inspired by the birth of my niece, I soon realized that this could touch adults as well. For even as a baby or small child can be lulled by the sounds of beautiful music, it is the adult who ultimately processes the lyrics. And it is the adult who, after a day filled with many of life’s challenges, needs relaxation and care as much as the child.

So I have created this album of songs – some familiar from stage and screen, some new – to appeal to all generations; to lull and “cradle” everyone. For indeed, we should never become immune to the healing, calming power of beautiful music. In short, as the lyrics to “Dreamland” say, “no one’s too old for lullabies”.
